Lucky's Point of View[]

Lucky and Mickey enter the dog garden, and begin searching for the source of the frightened whining. They quietly creep through the empty rooms and climb up a set of wooden stairs. Lucky spots a group of Fierce Dog pups huddled together in the tattered remains of a soft-hide. Lucky indicates the pups to Mickey, and the black-and-white Farm Dog points to a dark, huddled mass that reeks of death smell. Mickey whispers that it's probably their mother dog, and Lucky agrees, feeling pity tighten in his chest. They slowly approach the three pups, and one of them yaps that he can smell something. Lucky crawls forward and introduces himself and Mickey to them. Lucky speaks to them and offers to take them someplace safe and get them some food. The lone female wags her tiny, thin tail hopefully, and the smaller male whines and licks his lips. The stout male growls suspiciously at them, and Lucky tries to sooth his doubts by explaining that their mother dog is gone, and she should be given to the Earth-Dog. The larger male stubbornly refuses to leave, and the female agrees too. When Mickey explains the death of their mother to three pups, a lone crow's call causes him to flinch and he notes that it's getting late. The Fierce Dog pups seem to accept this, and follow Lucky and Mickey down the stairs. The two dogs begin to bury the unnamed mother, and notice a small pup lying limply in a corner. They nose the pup's body into a grave, and exit the house, the three pups following closely behind.
